About BelizeINVEST, BELTRAIDE

WHO WE ARE​
BelizeINVEST is a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), which is a statutory body of the Government of Belize under the Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade & Commerce. BelizeINVEST provides tailored services to local and foreign investors seeking to capitalize on investment and to link investors to opportunities in Belize.

  • Providing establishment compliance guidance and investment packaging support;
  • Accessing intellectual capital that is required to make business happen;
  • Coordinating and facilitating inbound site visits and investment missions;
  • Promoting investment opportunities through investment forums and events;
  • Expending recommendations to enhance the ease of doing business in Belize;
  • Building long-term, collaborative relationships with concession holders through outreach for continued business growth and reinvestment.

Inbound Visits Information

​The BelizeINVEST team aims to tailor and facilitate visits with optimum productivity.  Please honor the following steps should you wish to conduct an inbound visit to Belize.
How to book an investment visit/mission? 
​Booking an Investment mission is easy! Follow these three steps to begin.
  1. Submit a Business Proposal or Project Concept Note Form INV2;
  2. Complete Participants Form INV4;
  3. Coordinate with the designated BelizeINVEST Investment Associate to finalize a meeting Itinerary.  Email [email protected] for more information

Obligations
When participating in inbound visits, both BelizeINVEST and the Project Developer are expected to meet the following obligations.
BelizeINVEST
  • To secure meetings highlighted in the mutually-agreed itinerary.
  • To provide on-spot business establishment guidance with a BelizeINVEST Investment Associate, where applicable.
 
Project Developer:
  • To cover any additional logistical cost apart from transport between meetings.
  • To cover the cost of accommodation, bookings, and meals while in Belize.
Clients' Commitment to us
  • You are responsible for matters pertaining to the development of your company.
  • You are to secure contracts, financial and or intellectual capital, including applicable real estate for your development.
  •  You are to complete all relevant documents, proposals and/or business plans pertaining to your development.
  • You are to complete the requisite compliance procedures pertaining to your development.

Getting to Belize

​The Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (PGIA) is the premier international airport of Belize. PGIA is located only 10 miles from Belize City. You can contact the international airport and its airlines at +(501) 225-2045. The airlines operating in Belize are as follows:
Passports, Visas/ Entry Requirements
Visas are not required for citizens of the United States and its territories, Canada, United Kingdom and its territories, European Union, Caribbean and Central American Countries. Please consult the Department of Immigration and Nationality Services for more information:

Getting Around

Traveling around Belize is fast and easy! Several options such as Taxi/Charter Services, Auto Rentals, and Domestic Flights are readily available to make your trip smooth and exciting!
 
Taxi/Charter Services:
At the Airports, Taxi Service is available for transportation to Belize City.

Around Belize City and other districts, taxi service is also available. Rates range from BZD $7.00 and higher depending on the distance travelled and district you are in.
 
Auto Rental

When booking reservations, kindly note hotel reservation and cancellation policies or ask our BelizeINVEST team to attach any relevant hotel policies on investment itineraries.

Currency

​Belize currency exchange is easy! The Belize dollar is pegged at $2 BZD to $1 USD.  Hotel accommodations are typically listed in $USD prices, and most restaurants, shops etc. are listed in $BZD prices.
 
Banking/ATM $
There are several banks with branches throughout the country, namely Belize Bank Ltd, Scotiabank Ltd, Atlantic Bank Ltd, and Heritage Bank.
 
Banking Hours: Mon – Fri 8:00am – 3:00pm
Most Banks are closed on Saturdays and on Public and Bank Holidays.
ATMs are also available across the country, particularly in most tourist destinations- including Placencia, Punta Gorda, Belmopan, Dangriga, Belize City, San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Orange Walk, San Ignacio and Corozal.

Weather

​With an average yearly temperature of 84° F (29°C), it’s always warm yet comfortable. Winter (November-March) temperature in Belize rarely drops below 60°F (16°C), while summer temperature (May-September) is around 86°F (30°C). Humidity is also fairly consistent at around 85%. Dress Comfortably!
