profile

Description: Heritage Bank Limited is a private limited liability company incorporated under the Laws of Belize (Chapter 250 Revised Edition 2000) on December 7, 1999. The Bank was issued bank license No. 1 of 2000 on November 15, 2000 under the Banks and Financial Institutions Act (BFIA) (Chapter 263 of the Substantive Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2000).

Heritage evolved from a merger of Provident Bank & Trust of Belize Limited established in 1998 to provide international banking services, and Alliance Bank of Belize Limited established in 2001 to provide domestic banking services. These two institutions had common shareholders.

In 2006 there was a change in the shareholding of the Bank when Provident Bank acquired the majority stake in Alliance Bank. In 2008 a strategic decision was made to merge the operations of both Alliance Bank of Belize Limited and Provident Bank & Trust of Belize Limited. All functions of the two institutions were consolidated to benefit from economies of scale resulting in corporate synergies with best practices applied throughout the organizations.

On January 1, 2010 the Bank legally changed its name to Heritage Bank Limited from Alliance Bank of Belize Limited. The Bank’s parent, which owns 95.6%, also legally changed its name from Provident Bank & Trust of Belize Limited to Heritage International Bank & Trust Limited. The Heritage Group offers a range of international and domestic banking including fiscal agency services.

On February 1, 2016 Heritage Bank made history in Belize when it acquired the Belize operations of the FirstCaribbean International Bank. The instantaneous growth in our customer base with its related activities enhanced our business and positively impacted our image in the country. A Business Processing Center was established to function as a call center and to manage the preparation and dispatch of statements of accounts. Staff complement increased by some 75 in the city and at district branches to the present 200 employees.

Service Offering: Personal and corporate banking services include savings accounts, checking accounts, term deposit accounts, credit cards, personal loans, commercial loans, mortgages, overdrafts, foreign currency exchange,  letters of credit, online banking, cellphone banking, payroll services, merchant services, and debit cards, etc. (Source: Heritage Bank Limited)

PRESS RELEASE

Seaweed Catalogue- Women Entrepreneurs in Belize

As the pandemic battered livelihoods, many entrepreneurs had their one source for sustenance and income stripped off. In response, BELTRAIDE with funding from the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) - Taiwan launched The Belize Female Entrepreneurship Program - Covid Relief for Women in Emerging Industries Project to support female entrepreneurs in the seaweed industry who were affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The project provided much-needed guidance and knowledge in running and growing a business and seed capital grants to expand their capabilities that could lead to increased income, employment, and rebound the economy of Belize. The project nurtured the small businesses and equipped them with the necessary tools to overcome the negative effects of the pandemic.

Recognizing the tremendous progress of the seaweed entrepreneurs and their products, the BELTRAIDE team created a seaweed catalogue showcasing a diverse array of seaweed products such as skin care, body oils, beverages, health and wellness, which have been developed by talented women who use the power of the sea to nourish, sustain, and inspire.

This is a vibrant tapestry woven with the stories of passionate entrepreneurs who are transforming the ocean's bounty into sustainable success. This comprehensive catalogue is celebrating the dynamic world of Belizean seaweed.
